Programs

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)

Inception Academy offers courses from Grade 9 – 12 in support of students working towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Our administrative staff also helps students to apply for university and college within Ontario, or Canada. In order to achieve OSSD a student must meet the following requirements: 

  • Successful completion of Literacy requirement
  • 40 hours of community involvement (Community Involvement Activity Notification and Completion Form)
  • 40 hours of community involvement (Community Involvement Activity Notification and Completion Form)

Grade 1 to 8 Courses

Inception follows the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum and offers courses required as prerequisites for university or college program choice of students. Students have an option of participating at Inception schools a Full-Time or Part-Time Students

English as a Second Language (ESL)

ESL Courses are parts of Ontario Credited courses. These courses are designed for students who need to improve their English language in order to have better communication skills and become prepared to attend their courses in school.

ESLAO “English as a Second Language Level 1, Open

This course builds on students’ previous education and language knowledge to introduce the English language and help students adjust to their new cultural environment. Students will use beginning English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing for everyday and essential academic purposes; use Basic English language structures and simple sentence patterns in short conversations; read short adapted texts; and write phrases and short sentences. The course also provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to begin to adapt to their new lives in Canada.

ESLBO – English as a Second Language Level 2, Open

This course expands students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English for everyday and academic purposes. Students will participate in conversations, in structured situations, on a variety of familiar and new topics; link English sentences to compose paragraphs; read a variety of texts designed or adapted for English language learners, and expand their knowledge of English grammatical structures and sentence patterns. ESLCO – English as a Second Language Level 3, Open

This course extends students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English for a variety of everyday and academic purposes. Students will make short classroom presentations; read a variety of adapted and original texts in English; and write using a variety of forms of text. Students will also expand their academic vocabulary and their study skills to facilitate the transition to the mainstream school program. This course also introduces students to the rights and responsibilities inherent in Canadian citizenship, and to a variety of current Canadian issues.

ESLDO – English as a Second Language Level 4, Open

This course prepares students to use English with increasing urgency and accuracy in classroom and social situations and to participate in Canadian society as informed citizens. Students will develop the reading, writing, and oral presentation skills required for success in all school subjects. They will study and interpret a variety of grade-level texts; extend listening and speaking skills through participation in discussions and seminars; write narratives, articles, and summaries in English; and respond critically to various print and media texts.

ESLEO – English as a Second Language Level 5, Open

This course provides students with the skills and strategies they need to make the transition to college and university preparation courses in English and other secondary school disciplines. Students will be encouraged to develop independence in a range of academic tasks. They will participate in debates and lead classroom workshops; read and interpret literary works and academic texts; write essays, narratives, and reports; and apply a range of learning strategies and research skills e effectively. Students will further develop their ability to respond critically to print and media texts.

University Preparation

Senior-level students who need to be prepared for university or college can apply for university preparation program. Applications are reviewed case by case. Please contact the school if you meet the below requirements:

 

-Minimum IELTS Overall score 5.5 (Each Skill above band 5)

Online Courses

Students have the opportunity to study online. Inception offers virtual classes and besides the everyday live classes, instructors communicate with students in virtual space to make sure none of the students have academic concerns. The school website is user friendly so that students have ease of online education.

Summer Camps

Summer Camps are one of the most popular and lovable programs we offer. Students travel from all around the world to participate in our 4 to 8 weeks program. The Package includes airport pick up/drop off, accommodation (homestay residence with three meals), medical insurance, guardianship (If required), lots of fun activities, trips, and full-day English classes.

Winter Camps

Winter Camps are offered in |Decembers each year. Students travel from all around the world to participate in our 2 to 4 weeks program. The Package includes airport pick up/drop off, accommodation (homestay residence with three meals), medical insurance, guardianship (If required), lots of fun activities, trips, and full-day English classes.

IELTS Preparation

At Inception School, we offer IELTS preparation courses for students and are a registered IELTS test center. We understand how important it is for students to be able to understand, read, and speak English, especially if they want to apply for university. Many universities consider these scores in determining whether or not to accept a student into a specific program.

The educators at Inception School will work with students to develop their English proficiency and help them prepare for the IELTS test.

French Language

In our French class students will begin to understand and speak French in guided and structured interactive settings, and will develop fundamental skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through discussing issues and situations that are relevant to their daily lives.
